Roland Odell Lundby Jr.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Roland Odell Lundby Jr., loving husband and father of two daughters passed away at the age of 73.

Roland was born on June 22, 1946 in Montgomery, Alabama. He attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA and continued onto UC Santa Barbara where he received a degree in Political Science. After graduation, he volunteered with the Peace Corps in the Philippines for 3 years. Upon his return he began graduate school in Arizona. In Phoenix he met Connie a lovely small-town girl from Eureka, IL. They married on July 12, 1975. Connie was the perfect partner for Roland and was by his side until the end supporting him in all of his endeavors.

The desire to be his own boss led him down the path of opening multiple different businesses throughout his life in Denver, CO. He began Tecra Tools in 1976 with a business partner, John, who became a lifelong friend. He always liked trying something new, so 15 years later he opened Golf Classics and Collectibles followed by AwardX. He also always wanted to help another entrepreneur get their start. This dream was fulfilled when his daughter and son-in-law decided to open their own BBQ restaurant.  He was able to see the opening of their 2nd location of Roaming Buffalo BBQ  just before he passed.

Throughout his various businesses, Roland valued the connections he made with his customers and many became good friends. He loved being a salesman, his own boss, and never wanted to retire. He was an eternal optimist and always looked for solutions instead of focusing on a problem. He was a compassionate man and a patient man, who made everyone feel valued, and he would go the extra mile for anyone.

Roland loved spending time with family, playing games, and even organized large water fights enjoyed by all of the neighborhood kids summer after summer. Chasing a little white ball around golf courses and skiing down the Colorado ski slopes were hobbies Roland absolutely loved. His five-year-old grandson, Carter, was the light of his life, and they loved playing cars, trucks, and trains.

Roland was preceded in death by his brother Bobby and father, Roland Sr. He is survived by his wife Connie, daughters Rachael (Coy) Webb, and Karen Lundby, grandson Carter Webb, his wonderful mother, sisters Patty, Cindy, and Lori, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

A private family Visitation and Funeral Service will be on Friday morning May 29 at Shannon Family Mortuary in Orange, CA. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, CA.
